44 Years Strong: A Look Back at PGT Trucking’s Pennsylvania Journey https://www.pgttrucking.com/44-years-strong-a-look-back-at-pgt-truckings-pennsylvania-journey/ Wed, 11 Jun 2025 19:31:01 +0000 https://www.pgttrucking.com/?p=9919 This year, as we celebrate 44 years of excellence on the road, let's look back at some of the key milestones that have shaped PGT Trucking's journey.

The post 44 Years Strong: A Look Back at PGT Trucking’s Pennsylvania Journey appeared first on PGT Trucking.

]]>

PGT Trucking, Inc. has a rich history rooted in the heart of Pennsylvania. Established in 1981 in Industry, PA, by the then 26-year-old Patrick Gallagher, PGT has grown from a vision into a nationally recognized force among trucking companies in Pennsylvania, and across the U.S. This year, as we celebrate 44 years of excellence on the road, let’s look back at some of the key milestones that have shaped PGT Trucking’s journey.

The Early Years

Pat Gallagher’s commitment to safety — embodied in PGT’s motto, “Safety is Everyone’s Job – All the Time” — set the tone from the beginning, along with a focus on building personal relationships. Through this individual approach, PGT established partnerships that played a pivotal role in the company’s success, including Crucible Steel in Midland, PA, and U.S. Steel in Pittsburgh, PA. PGT’s first driver, Richard Powers, became a long-standing part of the team and helped launch those initial operations.

Another foundational partnership started with our first truck purchase from Jack Hill at O.S. Hill & Co., Inc. International. In 2022, PGT and Hill International celebrated the 2,000-truck milestone, and the partnership continues today. With these relationships, PGT focused on serving Pennsylvania’s industrial backbone from the start.

Growth & Expansion

As PGT grew, so did our operational needs. In 1990, we experienced rapid business expansion that required more space and personnel, sparking our HQ relocation from Industry to Monaca, PA. This extensive campus was a beacon of business growth in the local community of Beaver County.

PGT continued to develop new transportation solutions for customers in PA and across the U.S., even establishing van and tanker divisions to provide additional support for our clients. PGT’s strategic decision to focus on customer relationships was pivotal in solidifying our place among trucking companies in PA and the transportation industry.

Safety at PGT Trucking

PGT Trucking has consistently prioritized safety throughout our history. This commitment goes beyond basic compliance, exemplified by the development of PGT’s first securement manual in 1994. Our unique “one for the family” securement practice requires drivers to add an extra securement device beyond DOT regulations, underscoring this dedication to protecting our customers’ cargo and everyone on the road.

Broadening Reach and Capabilities

PGT Trucking’s journey has been marked by strategic expansions that have broadened our reach and opportunities. Key moves include the establishment of the Laredo Terminal in 1995, which opened a vital gateway for shipping in and out of Mexico. This commitment to cross-border logistics was further solidified with the opening of PGT’s new, state-of-the-art Laredo facility in 2024, significantly enhancing our capabilities for seamless North American trade. The launch of the Lease Purchase Program in 1997 also created new opportunities for drivers, providing truck drivers in PA and across the U.S. with an accessible path for truck ownership. Furthermore, with the founding of Southern Pines Trucking, Inc. in 2002 as a division of PGT, the company offered diversified solutions, initially focusing on nuclear moves before expanding into Heavy Haul and Cryogenic Tanker operations.

Innovation and the Future of Flatbed®

PGT’s commitment to innovation continues to shape the future of the flatbed industry. We actively explore and integrate advancements that enhance efficiency, safety, and service. This forward-thinking approach positions PGT at the forefront of the Future of Flatbed®, embracing new technologies and strategies to adapt to evolving market demands and deliver cutting-edge transportation solutions.

Pennsylvania Pride & Partnerships

PGT’s connection to Pennsylvania extends beyond our founding and headquarters. A unique partnership with the University of Pittsburgh Athletic Department, established in 2006, showcases this local pride. PGT provides a custom-designed truck and trailer to transport the Pitt football team’s equipment, a highly visible example of our commitment to the community. In 2016, we moved our headquarters to the Hopewell Industrial Park in Aliquippa, PA, after supporting the construction of the Shell ethylene cracker plant in Monaca, PA. This strategic relocation, followed by the 2021 opening of an Operations and Training Facility in Blairsville, PA, further establishing PGT Trucking as a premier company in Pennsylvania.

Honoring People & Looking to the Future

PGT Trucking’s success is built on the dedication of our people. Long-time employee Lori Brown, who has been with PGT since the beginning, and drivers like Randy Kelly and Rick Franklin, who have dedicated decades to the company, exemplify this commitment. We also recognize and celebrate driver achievements through our Million Mile, Safe, and Premier Professional Driver programs, demonstrating a deep appreciation for our drivers, the backbone of all trucking companies in PA and across the country.

PGT Trucking recognizes the important contributions of military veterans, with several on staff and among our dedicated drivers. We honor them with special decals on their trucks, showcasing their service. PGT actively invests in our staff, exemplified by the Flatbed Fundamentals course at the Blairsville training facility, ensuring that all employees, including office staff, gain a comprehensive understanding of the physical demands and safety procedures of flatbed trucking.

From our humble beginnings in Industry, PA, to our current position as a leader among trucking companies in Pennsylvania and nationally, PGT Trucking’s 44-year journey is a story of growth, innovation, and a steadfast commitment to our people, our customers, and the communities we serve. As PGT Trucking looks to the future, we remain dedicated to our core values of safety, innovation, and excellence.

The post Owning the Open Road: Three Drivers’ Journeys to Truck Ownership through PGT’s Lease Purchase Program appeared first on PGT Trucking.

The open road holds the promise of freedom and independence for many truck drivers. For Ray, Howard, and Collin, that promise became a reality through their perseverance and the support they found in PGT Trucking’s Lease Purchase Program. After navigating the challenges of truck ownership, these three drivers have achieved the remarkable feat of paying off their trucks — a testament to the power of determination and the value of a committed partner. Their stories serve as motivation for aspiring owner-operators who dream of taking the wheel of their own business, supported by PGT’s Lease Purchase Program.

We sat down with Ray, Howard, and Collin to reflect on their lease purchase experience and how others can learn from their successes.

Challenges of Lease Purchase

Ray Squires

The biggest challenge was one all three drivers shared: managing the financial obligation to truck repairs and maintenance. As Ray explained, “Trucks break. They’re not perfect machines.” Balancing truck payments with his personal expenses was also a struggle. “You want to pay the repair bill off, but you have to make sure you have enough money to live on and pay your regular bills, too,” Ray said. “Learning to balance your expenses is one of the most important lessons with lease purchase.”

Howard agreed, saying, “Breakdowns were the biggest challenge I faced, but PGT helped when I got stuck in those situations. With their assistance, I was able to stay focused on the big picture and keep working toward my goal.”

According to PGT Lease Purchase Manager, David McKolosky, one of the best advantages with PGT’s Lease Purchase Program is our ability to help lease purchase drivers with truck maintenance. “PGT has own our maintenance shops, which gives us the flexibility to help our lease purchase drivers. We also lease our own equipment, so we can provide the full vehicle history when the driver enters the program.”

PGT’s Support Made the Difference

Howard Sullivan

Despite the difficulties, all three drivers credited PGT’s support for helping them stay on track. When Ray’s first truck faced too many repairs just four months into the lease, PGT quickly provided him with a replacement vehicle. We also worked with Ray to restructure his payments when a major engine repair threatened to derail his progress.

“PGT stood behind me,” Ray said. “They put the expenses on the back end of the loan so I could still afford the payments and keep running.”

Similarly, as Howard faced breakdowns on the road, PGT was there to help. “PGT will get you a hotel room if your truck breaks down out on the road,” said Howard. “Little things like that, which you might not think matter, go a long way for me. If you have to be in a hotel room for three days because your clutch went out in Laredo, and you don’t have a lot of money to spare, they’ll help out with that. Those kinds of things really make a difference.”

Collin received the same support, saying, “The big difference with PGT is the support they give you,” said Collin. “When a breakdown happens and you don’t have enough money saved, PGT will help you get through it financially.”

Advice for Aspiring Owner-Operators

Collin Bivens

Looking back, Ray’s advice to his younger self is to be prepared for the commitment required to succeed as an owner-operator. “Some guys, they don’t understand the full commitment that you have to make for truck ownership,” he said. “They want to own their own truck, but they don’t understand all the responsibilities that come with it.”

Howard adds to this, cautioning aspiring owner-operators to be patient. “If your truck is breaking down, you have to remember that it’s nobody’s fault,” said Howard. “It’s a truck. Things break down, and that’s just part of the job. You have to learn to deal with those kinds of things and stay calm.”

Collin’s biggest piece of advice is to save up before entering the lease purchase program, and to stay busy when you are in it. “Make sure you have money saved up before you enter the program and keep working. Stay busy,” said Collin. “You can’t make money if you aren’t working.”

David, PGT Lease Purchase Manager, echoes Collin’s advice. “You have to stay hungry in a lease purchase program. Many drivers want to enter the program and own their truck, but they aren’t willing to put in the work to be successful. PGT can help you reach that goal, but you have to keep at it.”

The Biggest Accomplishment: Paying Off Their Trucks

Perseverance pays off, and after a few years in PGT’s Lease Purchase Program, Ray, Howard, and Collin have now fully paid off their trucks.

Ray particularly feels a sense of pride and financial freedom, though he knows the work is never truly done. “In a way you do have financial freedom, but you also need to be prepared for cosmetic updates and ongoing maintenance. Being a truck owner means you always have to be responsible with your expenses,” Ray explained.

PGT Lease Purchase Manager, David, is extremely proud of the program’s success and the accomplishments of Ray, Howard, and Collin. “These drivers have worked incredibly hard to become owner-operators. My favorite part of the job is handing a driver their truck title and seeing the excitement on their face when they’ve finally achieved their goal.”

These stories are a testament to the power of determination and the value of a supportive partner like PGT Trucking. Their individual journeys serve as an inspiration for others who dream of owning their own truck and taking control of their professional future.

Are You Ready for Truck Ownership?

PGT is proud of our lease purchase program, helping truck drivers achieve their independence and grow their business since 1997. Whether you dream of owning a full fleet or just your truck, PGT will support your goals. We have late model equipment available, and for the first four weeks, tractor payments are deferred and free trailer rental is included to help you get started. Lease Purchase Operators earn 75% of line haul revenue and 100% of fuel surcharges. Apply today!

Based just outside Pittsburgh, PA, PGT Trucking has more than 43 years’ experience in steel transportation. We are committed to providing safe and efficient flatbed shipping solutions, and when it comes to steel products, PGT has the knowledge, experience and dedication to successfully transport your product. We will guide you through the entire process, from onboarding through delivery. Find out what makes PGT the preferred flatbed carrier for steel transportation.

The Steel Transportation Process with PGT Trucking

Inquiry: Call PGT and work with one of our experienced Business Development Managers to discuss your shipment needs. We will develop a customized shipping solution for your operation.

Onboarding: Your dedicated account team will ensure everything is ready to go for our first shipment, including confirming the billing information, safety needs, and loading details of your product. By outlining your required shipment timeline and commodity specifications, our team will clearly identify how we can safely and efficiently transport your freight.

Preparation and Planning: As we prepare to pick up and deliver your steel products, your PGT account team will provide key details for the first shipment and assign a PGT Proud Professional driver to the load. You should have your facilities prepped for our arrival, which will help expedite the shipment. We will handle the rest and can provide on-site safety management to ensure a smooth loading and unloading process.

Tracking Your Shipment: From pickup through delivery, our team will keep you informed on the load progression. Our innovative technology tracks your shipment and allows us to provide real-time updates along the way.

Successful Delivery: Just like the pickup, our team will oversee the safe delivery of your steel freight. Your Business Development Manager will be in touch to confirm delivery and ensure your complete satisfaction with the steel shipment.

Best Practices for Steel Transportation

Driver Training: Successfully transporting steel commodities starts with the best training for flatbed truck drivers. At PGT, all drivers attend our Training & Orientation program at our Blairsville terminal, where they undergo thorough instruction and evaluation for flatbed trucking. No matter the steel commodity, PGT’s Proud Professional drivers are well-versed in proper load securement.

Equipment: PGT uses modern flatbed equipment to increase uptime and minimize the risk of service failure. All company trucks are less than three years old, and our flatbed trailers are routinely upgraded. Preventative maintenance is performed every 10,000 miles.

Rigorous Safety Protocols: With safety as our mission, PGT goes beyond DOT securement regulations, requiring at least one additional securement device. PGT’s Safety Department uses a hands-on approach by checking load securement photos and completing spot checks at key locations. For complex commodities and new customers, our team will also be on-site to safely oversee the loading and securement process.

Common Steel Transportation Challenges

Weight Distribution: Placing your commodity correctly on the flatbed trailer can be a common challenge in steel transportation. With strategic planning and advanced equipment, PGT overcomes any difficulty with weight distribution and loading efficiency.

Regulatory Compliance: Interstate transportation is subject to multiple regulations at the state and federal levels. PGT remains informed of the latest requirements and ensures our flatbed truck drivers are prepared for inspections by the Department of Transportation.

Oversized/Overweight: Some commodities exceed the requirements for a standard flatbed trailer. At PGT, we have a variety of specialized trailers and an in-house permit department to safely transport any oversized or overweight product.

Steel Transportation Solutions You Can Trust

PGT has been an integral partner to the steel industry since our establishment in 1981. No matter the commodity, PGT will expertly transport your steel products safely and efficiently. We will provide a customized shipping solution to meet your transportation and safety needs, and our fleet of Proud Professional flatbed truck drivers are dedicated individuals trained to haul steel based on our extensive securement protocols.

Artificial intelligence (AI) influences our personal lives, businesses and industries by transforming the way we live today. However, AI has already been making a positive impact in the trucking industry for several years. Fleets have been using AI to optimize complicated processes, improve safety standards and enhance vehicle performance. By using AI models, trucking companies can quickly analyze large amounts of data to efficiently plan routes and dispatch trucks, allowing personnel to focus on customer service and driver support.

Carriers can also utilize AI-powered safety and maintenance systems to reduce potential incidents over the road. Just like everyday motor vehicles, heavy duty trucks are equipped with collision mitigation systems, including automatic braking and lane departure warnings. Truck manufacturers and maintenance facilities use AI to predict potential service failures, helping carriers schedule proactive repairs before there are costly and dangerous breakdowns over the road.

PGT Solutions

In 2019, PGT implemented AI-powered dash cameras in our company trucks, which revolutionized our safety program. Today, every PGT unit is equipped with a dash camera. The camera system can accurately analyze speed, following distance, harsh braking, distracted driving and more, providing real-time updates to immediately correct unsafe behavior. By using this data-driven approach, PGT coaches our drivers to adopt safer driving habits, improving the overall safety scores of our fleet. Drivers also have the ability to track their progress through their driver score app, which is a positive reinforcement platform to show drivers their daily habits and where they compare among their peers.

PGT continues to explore and implement the latest technologies and platforms designed to increase operational efficiency, enhance safety efforts and reinforce sustainable practices through the Future of Flatbed®.

According to the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI)*, the cost per mile to operate a truck increased 29.0% between 2020-2023. Insurance premiums grew by 12.5% in the past year, driven by more expensive equipment and litigation with nuclear verdicts. These rising costs, combined with a soft freight market, make it even more difficult for carriers to succeed, often resulting in higher driver turnover.

The economy continues to be a concern for the trucking industry, which was listed as the number one issue in ATRI’s annual Top Industry Issues list in 2023. Forecasts for the second half of 2024 remain stagnant, fueled by the uncertainty of the upcoming election cycle.

*ATRI is non-profit research organization dedicated to providing in-depth studies and findings related to the trucking industry. Since 1954, ATRI has been a leading source of transportation data. Their annual reports and extensive research are widely considered a definitive measure for the trucking industry.

The trucking industry continues to experience increasing insurance rates, due in part to the rise in nuclear verdicts. A nuclear verdict is defined as a court decision of $10 million or more, typically from a severe accident or injury lawsuit involving large trucks and motor carriers. These rulings have been trending upward since 2013 (excluding the pandemic period when courts were shutdown). According to a study by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform, the overall mean nuclear verdict from 2013-2022 was $89 million.

Motor carriers are a prime target for litigation, and trucking companies are now faced with the impact of such high-cost rulings. Insurance premiums continue to increase despite a two-year decrease in the number of fatalities and injuries resulting from crashes involving large trucks. Carriers are forced to adjust their operating plans to accommodate higher insurance rates, which means they have less money for continued safety improvements and new equipment. Legal reform is needed to curtail the significant upward trajectory of nuclear verdicts and insurance premiums.

PGT Solutions

PGT continues to heavily invest in our safety program, ensuring that we are one of the safest motor carriers on the road. Highway safety is a concerted effort by PGT staff and drivers that requires a constant commitment to safe driving habits. Backed by the latest technology, PGT’s Safety Department takes a data-driven approach to keep our fleet in compliance with all Department of Transportation (DOT) rules and regulations. PGT works to prevent incidents by coaching our drivers to adopt safer behaviors, like obeying the speed limit, increasing their following distance and avoiding distractions while driving, all of which are leading indicators of accidents.

The PGT Bulletin addresses current issues within the trucking industry that impact PGT Holdings Inc., our customers and the supply chain. PGT closely monitors these concerns and works to implement innovative solutions for our customers, advancing transportation through the Future of Flatbed®.

Executive Summary

Chad Marsilio, Chief Operating Officer

As we approach the November election, everything remains in a holding pattern. Regulatory decisions are delayed, manufacturing stalls, and businesses and consumers spend cautiously. Hurricane season also threatens to disrupt the supply chain, as most recently observed with Hurricane Beryl in Texas.

Trucking companies continue to see rising operating costs and increasing insurance premiums, with some notable carriers even going bankrupt during this time. To be successful, fleets must use effective cost management tactics to endure the current market environment.

PGT Trucking is well-positioned for success, strategically growing our company despite challenging circumstances. After more than 43 years in business, PGT understands the cyclical nature of our industry, excelling through times of both upward and downward swings. We remain committed to our customers, providing personalized transportation solutions for safe and on-time deliveries.

In the vast landscape of flatbed trucking logistics, where every mile counts and every delivery is a promise, the role of a Fleet Manager stands at the crossroads of efficiency and reliability. At PGT Trucking, the Fleet Manager is the liaison between our corporate office, our Proud Professional drivers, and our clients. But what are their daily tasks? And what qualities make them excel?

What Does a Fleet Manager Do?

Whether in the office, visiting a company terminal, or meeting with drivers, the day of a PGT Fleet Manager starts with a meticulous check of reports. From there it’s check-in — following up on calls and emails and coordinating with drivers and customers.

Throughout the day this communication remains a constant, while other tasks may include:

  • Finding loads
  • Matching load difficulty with driver skillset
  • Setting transportation expectations with drivers
  • Ensuring PGT safety and securement standards are met
  • Relaying real-time information to a driver on traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, project updates, or delivery issues
  • Managing issues as they arise on the driver or client side

Core Responsibilities

One of the core responsibilities of a Fleet Manager in flatbed trucking logistics is the allocation of available loads to drivers, ensuring each driver maximizes their earnings while maintaining efficiency and adherence to safety standards. From seasoned professionals to new drivers transitioning from dry van to flatbed trucking jobs, the Fleet Manager is tasked with preparing and guiding them for success at PGT Trucking in the specialized field of flatbed transport. This involves finding suitable flatbed loads, communicating expectations unique to this niche, and providing necessary support to ensure a seamless integration into the demands of flatbed trucking operations.

Other tasks include:

  • Analyzing available loads to prioritize coverage and to determine which loads will contribute to a driver’s total revenue earned.
  • Securing, organizing, and assigning loads to drivers in a manner designed to maximize efficiency and quality of performance.
  • Providing appropriate routing directions and scheduling instructions for pick-ups and deliveries, as needed.
  • Advising terminals and customer service of scheduling problems (pick-up and delivery).
  • Helping drivers maintain profitable and efficient lanes, thereby avoiding deadhead mileage.
  • Instructing guides, supervising, motivating, and evaluating drivers and driver trainees regarding the daily performance of their assigned duties in a manner consistent with PGT policies and procedures.
  • Making recommendations to management with respect to driver’s performance.
  • Maintaining and reviewing total and per driver shipping revenues earned on a daily basis.
  • Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships across PGT departments and employees, as well as all PGT customers.

Qualities of a Fleet Manager

The role of a Fleet Manager demands a unique blend of qualities, including:

  • Adaptability
    • In the fast-paced and ever-evolving logistics industry, adaptability is paramount. As a Fleet Manager, the ability to navigate through unforeseen challenges, shifting priorities, and industry changes ensures that operations run seamlessly.
  • Communication Skills
    • Effective communication is the key to efficiency. A Fleet Manager must convey instructions clearly to drivers, collaborate with various stakeholders, and provide timely updates. In case of any discrepancies or issues, the Fleet Manager steps in as the problem-solver, bridging the gap between drivers and customers to ensure a swift resolution.
  • Attention to Detail
    • From monitoring vehicle maintenance schedules to overseeing route planning and cargo management, attention to detail is crucial for ensuring compliance, preventing errors, and optimizing operational processes. It is the bedrock upon which reliability and safety are built.
  • Teamwork
    • A Fleet Manager is at the helm of a collaborative effort that involves drivers, dispatchers, maintenance teams, and various other departments. The ability to foster a sense of teamwork and cooperation ensures that everyone works cohesively toward common goals.
  • Ability to Multitask
    • Whether it’s coordinating schedules, addressing unexpected issues, or managing paperwork, the ability to multitask efficiently is essential.
  • Organizational Skills
    • Whether maintaining accurate records or optimizing routes and schedules, a Fleet Manager with strong organizational skills can streamline processes, enhance efficiency, and contribute to the overall success and safety of the operation.
  • Relationship Management
    • A PGT Fleet Manager excels at building strong relationships with drivers and customers, fostering trust, loyalty, and mutual growth.

Being a Fleet Manager at PGT Trucking is more than just a job — it’s a career filled with purpose, growth, and challenges. It requires individuals who are not only adept at navigating the intricacies of flatbed trucking logistics but also passionate about ensuring the success and safety of every driver and every delivery. Aliquippa, PA, January 11, 2024 – PGT Trucking Inc., a multi-service transportation firm offering flatbed, dedicated, international and specialized services, will open two new operations facilities by Q2 2024.

Breaking ground on facilities in Laredo, TX, and Ghent, KY, in 2023, PGT solidified its commitment to fostering growth, pursuing expansion and maintaining superior customer service. Now, both facilities are set to open by summer 2024, and PGT is gearing up to support its drivers and customers with additional resources and enhanced transportation solutions in these regions.

Laredo

PGT’s 7.73-acre, state-of-the-art logistics center in Laredo, Texas, is under development with Park Avenue Construction within the Pinnacle Industry Center and has an anticipated completion date in mid-Q2.

“Our contractors have completed approximately 75% of the yard paving, and exterior concrete wall panels using the ‘Hi-Tech Tilt’ system have been poured and will be erected soon,” said Laurence Cox, PGT Trucking’s Vice President of Sustainability. “We expect to have all the steel superstructure installed before the end of the month and the building completely under roof by the first week in February.”

The custom Laredo facility will include a full-service operations center, modern driver amenities and a truck maintenance shop, providing a regional base for over 70 local drivers.

Ghent

PGT’s new, 10.6-acre Ghent, KY, property is strategically located within a ten-mile radius of some of its largest customers. The initial 4-acres are under development with ATECK, Inc.

“The site has been leveled, and developers have laid the limestone and gravel bases, installing storm drains and various electrical conduits on the property,” added Cox. “The sitework is anticipated to be complete by the end of January. A prefab building has been ordered for the project and is expected to be delivered by the end of February. We are on track to be in operation before the end of March.”

The new Ghent operation will bring additional jobs to the area, including opportunities for support personnel and commercial truck drivers.

“As we open these additional terminals and office locations, we’re not just adding points on the map; we’re creating hubs of innovation, collaboration and unparalleled customer service,” said Cox. “This strategic expansion is more than a physical presence; it’s a commitment to fostering stronger connections, delivering efficiency and anticipating the needs of our customers.”

PGT Trucking acquired Sunbird Transport, based in Norwood, MA, and welcomes King Transportation Services, based in Richland, MS, as their newest Integrated Fleet Partner.
“For more than 40 years, PGT Trucking has remained committed to our founding values of providing quality customer service, developing long-lasting relationships, and connecting with like-minded companies to provide progressive transportation solutions,” said Gregg Troian, PGT Trucking President. “These two trucking companies share many of our core values and business objectives, making them ideal partners for PGT.”

The post The Power of Partnership with PGT Trucking: Spotlight on GASA Transportation appeared first on PGT Trucking.

In the world of logistics and flatbed transportation, partnerships are the backbone of innovation and progress. These collaborations have the power to transform the industry, leading to more efficient processes, improved customer service, and wider reach. PGT Trucking’s strategic alliance with GASA Transportation exemplifies the strength of partnership in trucking, offering seamless cross-border flatbed transportation solutions to meet the evolving needs of our customers.

For over two decades, PGT Trucking has been a leading flatbed transportation provider to and from Mexico. With a network of more than 30 terminals across the United States, our Laredo, Texas location was strategically established in 1998 to support our flatbed drivers and customers with cross-border shipping needs.

With a diverse customer base and their ever-changing transportation requirements, PGT recognized an opportunity to expand services beyond the border into Mexico. More than a decade ago, PGT established a partnership with GASA Transportation, a family-owned trucking company founded in 1981. GASA has locations in Monterrey, Nuevo Laredo; San Luis Potosi, Mexico; and Laredo, Texas, making them a natural fit to assist with our cross-border offerings.

GASA Transportation is a multi-sector trucking company with a fleet of over 200 tractors and currently handles the majority of PGT’s Mexican operations. Our partnership with GASA exemplifies collaboration in the transportation industry, combining strengths to create seamless end-to-end logistics solutions. Customers choose us for their international shipments for a variety of reasons, including:

  • Door-to-Door Service: We provide a door-to-door service, ensuring that the flatbed trailer loaded at the place of origin remains the same throughout the journey, eliminating the risks associated with shipment transfers at the border.
  • Bilingual Personnel: Our experienced bilingual representatives facilitate communication, ensuring seamless operations and addressing any challenges that may arise.
  • Warehousing Partnerships: Unforeseen delays by Customs can disrupt shipments. Our warehouse partnerships offer cost-effective storage solutions to minimize delays.
  • Cargo Insurance: Optional cargo insurance within Mexico provides added peace of mind to our customers.
  • Notifications: Real-time satellite tracking and delivery notifications keep customers informed throughout the shipping process, with evening operations personnel available for assistance.
  • Customs Clearance: PGT works directly with freight forwarders to expedite shipments and provide preliminary Customs information, reducing border crossing delays.

Customers of both companies benefit from an expanded range of services. PGT’s flatbed capabilities complement GASA’s strengths, resulting in a comprehensive suite of international transportation solutions. Our partnership has made safety and security paramount. We have shared best practices and provide ongoing driver training to ensure the safe delivery of flatbed loads. Working collaboratively, we share ideas and create synergy, with GASA readily embracing new protocols and regulations, seamlessly integrating them into their operations.

GASA’s expertise in navigating the intricacies of cross-border transportation is invaluable. They possess an in-depth understanding of documentation, customs procedures, and regulations, ensuring that cross-border deliveries are smooth and efficient. The foundation of the PGT-GASA partnership is trust and transparency.

“Customers appreciate how streamlined our process is,” said Sergio Villarreal, Director, Mexico Operations for PGT Trucking. “Over the years, PGT and GASA have learned a lot from one another, and we are committed to continuously developing shipping solutions that exceed our customers’ expectations.”

Beyond enhancing logistics, our partnership with GASA has enriched our cultural exchange. We take pride in what we have achieved together and look forward to many more successful years ahead. Over the years, we have learned from each other, elevating our ability to serve clients even better. This collaboration has significantly increased the volume of loads moved from the U.S. into Mexico, a testament to the power of partnership. Annually, PGT Trucking ships more than 4,000 loads into and out of Mexico. GASA brings a unique perspective to the way we transport international shipments, considering factors that might be overlooked in domestic shipments, with safety and security at the forefront.

The partnership between PGT Trucking and GASA Transportation reflects the ever-evolving nature of the transportation industry. It serves as a shining example of how collaboration can create new opportunities and keep up with the growth of a market. The landscape of international commerce in Mexico is evolving at a remarkable pace, driven by the escalating manufacturing endeavors aimed at sustaining the U.S. supply chain. This projected growth paints a bright and promising future for Mexican manufacturing. As an increasing number of businesses contemplate the advantages of nearshoring their operations, they will naturally seek out the top carriers like PGT Trucking and GASA to facilitate their international freight.

“We’ve been working with PGT for over a decade, and it’s been an incredible journey,” said Ovidio Gonzalez Villarreal, Operations Administrative Assistant for GASA Transportation and Cargo Carriers, LLC. “Their focus on safety, professionalism, and open communication has not only made us better but has set the standard in the industry. Together, we’re achieving remarkable success across borders.”

PGT Trucking’s partnership with GASA Transportation is a testament to how two companies can come together to provide enhanced services, extend their reach, and offer innovative solutions. This partnership benefits not only the companies involved but also the customers who rely on us for their transportation needs.

Other companies, like PGT Trucking, use a percentage pay model, which compensates drivers using a percentage of the total load revenue. Each pay structure has its own pros and cons, but most of the time, percentage pay outweighs mileage.

High Performers Earn More

Flatbed truck drivers work hard, and they should be fairly compensated for their efforts. With mileage, truck drivers are only paid for the miles they drive. It doesn’t include the time spent waiting to load and unload, stuck in traffic or securing and tarping the commodity. With percentage pay, flatbed truck drivers earn money based on the value of the load. They are motivated to improve their performance by efficiently planning their route, minimizing layover times and making timely deliveries. Higher performance means more loads, and more loads means more money with percentage pay.

Boost Earnings with Safer Driving

Fuel costs are a significant portion of a trucking company’s expenses, especially with rising diesel prices. Flatbed truck drivers help manage these costs, and with a percentage pay system, they are encouraged to adopt more fuel-efficient habits. By maintaining consistent speeds, reducing idle time, and avoiding abrupt maneuvers, flatbed truck drivers can improve their fuel economy and become safer drivers. When flatbed truck drivers are paid by the load and not the mile, they can confidently adjust their driving habits and limit these expenses. With PGT’s added safety incentives, flatbed truck drivers will boost their own earnings as well.

Fair Pay for Short Distances

Mileage pay doesn’t always compensate truck drivers for short-distance hauls or congested routes. Most of the time, mileage-based carriers only pay based on the distance between the shipper and receiver zip codes. This doesn’t match the actual number of miles driven, and truck drivers may miss out on pay opportunities if they have to detour or prefer to take a different route. With percentage pay, flatbed truck drivers earn the appropriate compensation regardless of the distance they drive. Percentage pay outweighs the mileage no matter the trip length.

Less Impact from External Factors

Traffic congestion, road closures, and poor weather conditions can all negatively impact truck drivers on a mileage pay system. All these things are outside the truck driver’s control, and it can be stressful to manage these delays – every truck driver knows that they aren’t getting paid when the wheels don’t turn. Thanks to percentage pay, these factors don’t change a flatbed truck driver’s pay since they’re paid for the value of the load, not how many miles they traveled in a day. This reduces the

Freedom to Choose the Route

With mileage pay, truck drivers often have to travel the dispatched route, which is usually the lowest mileage. Some mileage-based trucking companies might not even account for any detours made due to road construction or traffic congestion. In the trucking industry, time is money, and truck drivers should have the freedom to choose the route that best suits their needs. Flatbed truck drivers using a percentage pay system can set up their own trip plan, factoring in their Hours of Service, preferred routes and truck stops, the time of day, parking locations, and more. When a flatbed truck driver is paid by the load value, they can choose the route they want to take.

Shared Investment

When truck drivers are paid by the mile, they aren’t always receiving a share of the company’s profits. With percentage pay, trucking companies and their truck drivers have a mutual investment in the company’s profits. Flatbed truck drivers earn a percentage of the revenue, and when the company makes more, so does the driver. Both parties are committed to helping the other succeed, and thanks to PGT’s

Rate Transparency

With a percentage pay system, flatbed truck drivers know how much they’re going to make before they’re dispatched. The value of the load is already set, and by applying their percentage, the truck drivers know their anticipated revenue from the start. Under mileage pay, most truck drivers have to accept the load before they know exactly how many miles they have to travel, and it doesn’t account for any changes in the route along the way.

Stop counting miles and receive your fair share of the load!

Flatbed truck drivers work hard, and they deserve to be paid for their time behind the wheel AND out of the cab. With PGT’s percentage pay structure, our Proud Professionals are fairly compensated for every load they haul, regardless of the miles they drive. For more than four decades, we have been committed to the success and safety of our flatbed truck drivers.

Aliquippa, PA, July 18, 2023 – PGT Trucking, Inc., a leader in flatbed transportation, is elevating their sustainable shipping solutions with the addition of a Nikola Class 8 zero-emissions truck to their Pittsburgh fleet. With ongoing advancements in battery technology and charging infrastructure, electric trucks are poised to play a crucial role in the future of the trucking industry, providing cleaner, more sustainable delivery methods.

“For the last few years, PGT Trucking has worked closely with our customers to better understand their company-wide sustainability initiatives,” said Gregg Troian, PGT Trucking President. “As their shipping partner, we needed to make investments within our fleet that would support these green energy commitments. With the addition of the Nikola Tre BEV to our Pittsburgh fleet, we will be poised to service local customers with the most cutting edge and sustainable equipment on the market.”

Allegheny County has been historically affected by various forms of pollution due to its industrial past and urban environment. The American Lung Association’s 2023 State of the Air Report ranked Allegheny County as the 25th most polluted place to live in America.

PGT Trucking operates more than a quarter of its business in Western Pennsylvania, where the company was founded and remains headquartered today. Placing a zero-emissions vehicle into service in the Pittsburgh region was an intentional move by PGT Trucking, as the company looks to reduce their carbon footprint starting with their home base. It is estimated that a short-haul delivery made using this truck will eliminate PGT’s carbon emissions by more than 105,000 pounds annually.

The use of battery electric trucks brings several benefits to a trucking fleet and its customers, including the reduction of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. By eliminating tailpipe emissions, electric trucks help improve air quality, particularly in urban areas where trucks are heavily concentrated. According to a study by the North American Council for Freight Efficiency (NACFE), if 50% of the heavy-duty regional haul tractors were replaced with battery electric trucks, the industry could save an estimated 29.4 million metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent annually.

“It’s important to note that while pollution remains a concern, efforts are being made by companies like PGT Trucking and our customers to improve air quality in Allegheny County,” added Troian. “PGT’s Future of Flatbed® program, focused on revolutionizing flatbed transportation, will positively impact the industry by reducing CO2 emissions, increasing operational efficiency and attracting young talent.”

Carriers are struggling to acquire and maintain equipment, forcing them to run high mileage units longer. Truck and trailer payments increased by 18.6%, and the industry still faces shortages in parts and labor, impacting the carriers from maintaining the performance of their current fleets. While new Class 8 truck orders have slowed, OEMs are still working through a backlog of orders from the previous two years. Older trucks can negatively impact customer service and driver retention, as neither customers nor drivers appreciate time and revenue lost during a lengthy repair process.

PGT Solutions

Unlike most carriers, PGT has been adding new equipment to our fleet, with over 100 new 2023 and 2024 International and Peterbilt tractors arriving throughout the year. With more than 42 years’ experience in the industry, PGT is set up for success through our long-standing relationships with local manufacturers and dealers. PGT’s late model equipment has boosted our driver morale, increased operational up-time and improved our fuel economy. This also helps us provide better service to our customers, ensuring that we can make safe and timely deliveries without fail.

For the 12 months ended May 2023, the annual inflation rate in the U.S. dropped to 4.0%, a positive sign following two years of rapidly rising costs. In June 2023, the Federal Reserve announced they would skip another rate increase while continuing to observe the economic trends across the country. Americans may be experiencing a slight relief in the prices of consumer goods, but interest rates remain high and the inflation rate is still well above the 2% target. In the spring, the financial world also experienced three high profile bank collapses, further impacting consumer confidence in the U.S. economy. With a cautious economic forecast, a decrease in consumer demand and workforce shortages, manufacturers have slowed production, focusing on reducing inventory levels to cover only their most immediate needs.

PGT Solutions

Like many other industries, operating costs in transportation have continued to climb, increasing 21.3% over the past year. With rising costs and an uncertain economic forecast, carriers and shippers remain cautious about the second half of the year. PGT understands the cyclical nature of the market, and we are focused on strengthening our long-term relationships with our customers, providing quality service, innovative solutions and reliable transportation.

There are approximately 350,000-400,000 Owner-Operators, or Independent Contractor Truck Drivers, in the U.S. These drivers value their flexibility, choosing the hours, freight, and lanes they work. They are not employees of a trucking company; they own their truck and their business, selling their services to the customers and companies they prefer. Recently, the independent contractor model has been challenged through reclassification laws, with attempts to label independent truck drivers as company employees. On a federal level, the Department of Labor is expected to decide on a proposed rule to reclassify workers in early 2024.

Independent truck drivers are vital to the U.S. economy, supporting the supply chain and growing commerce. Worker reclassification will eliminate these independent businesses, forcing Owner-Operators into company employment or early retirement.

PGT Solutions

PGT Trucking is proud to support Truckers Integral to Our Economy (TIE), a national trade association that advocates for policies that promote entrepreneurship and economic growth. TIE is committed to educating lawmakers about the impact Independent Contractors can make in their districts and considering the implications of worker reclassification within the trucking industry.

For more than a decade, lack of available truck parking has been a primary concern for truck drivers, negatively impacting the transportation industry and supply chain. Truck drivers waste an average of 56 minutes of drive time per day looking for a safe parking spot, and for new entrants to the industry, a lack of proper trip planning could force them to shut down their day early or drive past their allowable hours while looking for a parking space. Legislation has been introduced in Congress to provide much needed funding for the transportation industry, but in some areas, there simply is not enough land to expand along major highways.

The trucking industry needs to continue to advocate for improved parking facilities, enhancing the safety and lifestyle for our truck drivers.

PGT Solutions

PGT understands that effective trip planning, along with locating a safe parking space after a long day, can be challenging, particularly for new, inexperienced truck drivers. To help our drivers, PGT provides a dedicated resource for their trip planning and truck parking needs. PGT’s Retention Specialist assists drivers by finding safe and reputable truck stops in route, reserving parking spaces in advance and providing additional tools to help drivers trip plan more effectively.

The trucking industry moves 10.93 billion tons of freight in the U.S., which is estimated to increase 1.4% per year through 2050. Despite this growth, the country’s infrastructure continues to decline, with no notable improvements across any category. There is even an estimated $2.59 trillion gap in funding through 2029 to repair these systems.

In June 2023, a portion of Interstate 95 in Northeast Philadelphia collapsed due to a tanker truck fire, causing a two-week closure of the highway. A new temporary roadway will allow traffic to pass through the area while the permanent roadway is rebuilt, which is expected to take several months. Around 160,000 vehicles are estimated to travel the affected area daily. While the overpass was rated in good condition by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the closure caused heavy traffic congestion and freight delays for several days.

PGT Solutions

In March 2023, Chad Marsilio, PGT Trucking Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice President, presented testimony at a public hearing held by the Pennsylvania House Republican Policy Committee, advocating for more funding to address the state’s poor infrastructure and truck driver facilities. PGT Senior Leadership continues to work with industry and government officials to help improve our infrastructure and create a more efficient supply chain.

Freight transportation continues to be a leading contributor of carbon emissions in the U.S., responsible for over half of the nitrogen oxide total emissions inventory in the country. The trucking industry moves about 72.2% of America’s freight tonnage, making motor carriers a primary focus for sustainability efforts. Battery electric vehicles can be a viable option for both carriers and customers, but long-haul applications will be better served through hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles. This innovative equipment continues to be researched and tested as the trucking industry works to provide more sustainable transportation services.

PGT Solutions

PGT Trucking, together with partners Nikola and Nucor, has successfully implemented a clean energy supply chain, delivering the first shipment of low-greenhouse-gas steel with a zero-emissions battery electric vehicle Class 8 truck. PGT purchased its first Nikola Tre BEV unit to start 2023, adding an additional truck in Q2. PGT’s green fleet will be used for dedicated local lanes that operate in a return-to-base situation, and we will continue to work with our trusted partners to pursue additional long-haul applications.

PGT has also made notable improvements in the fuel efficiency of our company-owned fleet, hitting our highest average miles per gallon metric yet. We are making an impact through our investment in new equipment, with a focus on enhanced performance specifications, helping PGT achieve our carbon emissions reduction goal.

The PGT Bulletin addresses current issues within the trucking industry that impact PGT Holdings Inc., our customers and the supply chain. PGT closely monitors these concerns and works to implement innovative solutions for our customers, advancing transportation through the Future of Flatbed®.

Executive Summary

PGT Trucking anticipates a strong finish as we approach the end of Q2 with a combination of special construction projects, seasonal materials, and strong relationships with our customers. However, we remain mindful of factors such as inflation, high interest rates, slow manufacturing production, and geopolitical risks, which could impact our operations. Economic indicators like employment and spending are stabilizing, yet consumers remain cautious as they enter the second half of the year. Manufacturers and service centers are reducing their inventory levels, purchasing goods only for immediate needs

Operating costs within the trucking industry have continued to rise for the second consecutive year, particularly in fuel, tolls, maintenance expenses and replacement parts. As customer demand is expected to soften during the summer, shippers will seek rate adjustments that may not be feasible within the current cost environment. Despite these challenges, PGT Trucking remains committed to strengthening our long-term relationships by providing high-quality service, diversified shipping solutions, and safe and reliable transportation.

The American Trucking Associations notably estimated a record-setting shortage of 80,000 truck drivers in 2021. Despite an increased focus on driver retention in the industry, estimates still point to a deficit of 78,000 drivers in 2002. Current labor shortages across the country provide alternative career options to truck drivers looking for more local opportunities, and a continually aging workforce sees more drivers retiring each year. Although truck drivers were hailed for their essential services during the pandemic, the profession still lacks a strong appeal to younger generations. The trucking industry must continue to evolve, supporting our drivers with additional benefits, roadside services and safety improvements. Rising costs, lack of parking and equipment delays all impact driver retention.

PGT Solutions

PGT has been named to the Best Fleets to Drive For® Top 20, signifying our company’s efforts to enhance the driver lifestyle through the Future of Flatbed®. PGT is committed to providing the best benefits, work experience and development opportunities for our professional drivers, and we will continue to implement innovative programs to evolve the trucking industry, attracting the next generation of talent to support America. PGT believes that people are our company’s greatest asset, and we strive to provide a positive workplace culture to support their innovation, growth and development.

Trailer orders hit record levels at the end of 2022, continuing the trend of equipment shortages faced by carriers during the past two years. Production of heavy-duty trucks stalled due to a global shortage of computer chips and lingering supply chain issues, forcing carriers to use aging equipment and drastically reduce their capacity. Manufacturers hope to catch up to demands for new orders in 2023, but trucking companies and maintenance shops still experience difficulty obtaining parts to repair current equipment. The average age of trucks and trailers in use continues to rise since the COVID pandemic, leading to increased needs during routine maintenance.

PGT Solutions

PGT maintains close relationships with trusted vendors, working together to fulfill orders for new trucks and trailers. Through our partnership with Penske Truck Leasing, PGT can take advantage of Penske’s vast network of maintenance shops and equipment, ensuring that PGT units can be quickly serviced with minimal disruption. PGT continues to upgrade our trucks and trailers to keep our fleet running, with over 100 new orders from International, Peterbilt and Nikola due to arrive this year.

Operating costs continue to increase for trucking companies. Fuel costs, listed as the top industry concern in 2022 by the American Transportation Research Institute, remain high, with mixed reports on the pricing outlook for 2023. Companies have also experienced increases in general tolls for turnpikes, bridges and expressways, including new highway use fees. With the adoption of electric and alternative fuel vehicles, states may look to raise fuel taxes or adopt new fees for electric charging to maintain revenue. Despite the gradual easing of inflation rates, prices remain higher than average for most goods and services.

PGT Solutions

As product demands return to normal levels, shippers may face the need to push for rate reductions, but carriers cannot afford to continually drop rates with such high operating costs. Shippers and carriers should focus on establishing long-term relationships, protecting freight volume and rates through mutually beneficial partnerships. PGT believes in providing quality customer service, which is enhanced through the relationships we develop with our customers.

The lack of available truck parking continues to be a primary concern in the industry, ranking in the top five of the American Transportation Research Institute’s Top Industry Issues since 2015. Estimates based on the Federal Highway Administration 2019 Jason’s Law survey roughly equate one truck parking space for every 11 drivers. Truck drivers are forced to stop working early in order to secure a safe parking spot, leaving valuable driving hours on the table every day and delaying shipment times. Lack of truck parking also impacts driver retention and safety, with more drivers choosing to leave the industry rather than deal with the added stress of parking.

In 2022, bills were introduced by Congress to address concerns with commercial truck parking but failed to advance during the legislative session, including attempts to improve driver access to restroom facilities. A new truck parking bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives this year, and the trucking industry hopes to see its advancement, improving the work environment for our truck drivers.

PGT Solutions

PGT continues to advocate for improvements within the trucking industry to enhance the lifestyle for truck drivers. By addressing the basic needs of drivers, like access to safe parking locations and restroom facilities, the trucking industry can retain drivers and even attract new entrants to the profession, ensuring that America’s supply chain keeps moving. PGT actively supports legislation that addresses these concerns.

America’s infrastructure is in a state of decline, rated an overall “C-” by the American Society of Civil Engineers 2021 Infrastructure Report Card, with 43% of America’s roadways listed in poor or mediocre condition. Trucks move approximately 72% of America’s freight, making America’s roadways a critical component of the supply chain. With the passage of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law in November 2021, numerous grants have been awarded to begin a massive repair of roads, bridges and transit systems in the U.S. Poor infrastructure limits the transportation industry’s ability to move freight efficiently and safely, creating congested bottlenecks that result in 1.2 billion hours of lost productivity for trucking companies annually.

As transportation evolves, the country’s infrastructure must also be prepared to handle the widespread use of electric vehicles, making electric charging and hydrogen fueling stations readily accessible for commercial vehicles. Electric vehicles are also significantly heavier than their diesel counterparts, creating the need for additional regulatory changes on weight limits/restrictions to support interstate commerce. Without changes to weight limitations, carriers will need to reduce load size to compensate for the heavier equipment or face increased permit costs.

PGT Solutions

Through PGT’s partnership with Nikola Corporation, PGT is committed to bringing electric charging and hydrogen fueling stations to our operating area. Mobile charging fuelers and trailers provide flexible options to support the Nikola Tre BEV and FCEV during their initial usage. PGT will continue to work with our partners and vendors to explore full-service solutions to enable greater use of electric vehicles while advocating for additional improvements to America’s infrastructure.

The transportation industry accounts for 27% of the total greenhouse gas emissions in the United States, the largest contributor among key sectors. Most fleets have embraced a more sustainable mindset aimed at improving operational efficiencies to ultimately reduce carbon emissions, such as avoiding deadhead miles, limiting idle time and maximizing fuel efficiency. These methods, while marginally beneficial, are not enough to produce widescale improvements on their own. The trucking industry needs to adopt innovative technology and equipment to make a significant reduction in carbon emissions, truly revolutionizing transportation as we know it. Customer demand is high for environmentally friendly services to create a sustainable supply chain and reduce their Scope 3 emissions.

PGT Solutions

PGT Trucking purchased our first Nikola Tre Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) this year, actively deploying the unit on a dedicated customer account to create the first sustainable shipping lane in flatbed transportation. PGT will also begin receiving the initial order of our 100 Nikola Tre Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Vehicles (FCEV) at the end of 2023. Like the Nikola Tre BEV, the Nikola Tre FCEV will be integrated into the PGT fleet, expanding PGT’s service offerings to provide sustainable shipping solutions for our customers.

PGT also recently launched our Research and Development Department, led by Laurence Cox, Vice President, Sustainability. The R&D Department is tasked with exploring additional applications of the Nikola Tre BEV and FCEV units and other green initiatives, helping PGT achieve our carbon emissions reduction goal: reducing carbon emissions from our company-owned fleet by 35% by the year 2025.

Executive Summary

Robert Hoelke
Senior Vice President, Commercial

As we enter a period of post-pandemic recovery, there is potential for a return to more normal market dynamics in 2023. However, high inflation, rising interest rates, supply chain issues and other geopolitical risks continue to fuel uncertainty in the economy, likely impacting consumer buying patterns in the near term.

Early 2023 results have been better than expected, as customers in the major industries we service are beginning to see more price stability in their products, leading to a more predictable supply and demand equation. Additionally, PGT has maintained strong asset utilization following the traditional holiday slowdown, thanks in part to minimal weather disruptions in our primary network. Expectations are for a steady Q1 2023, including an anticipated increase during spring construction season. The outcome for the remainder of the year is unclear, as there is still the potential for a mid-year slowdown or even recession. The Federal Reserve will likely continue to aggressively combat inflation, and if consumers significantly reduce spending as a result, PGT customers will see a lowered demand for their products.

Meanwhile, rising costs continue to plague the trucking industry, making it difficult for carriers to maintain an appropriate level of service. PGT remains focused on partnering with customers who push us to differentiate our transportation solutions. When PGT delivers on our commitments, we show our customers the value created in our service-based approach.
